Becoming Kings

Becoming Kings Podcast is for any man pursuing greater abundance and fulfillment in life, especially when he knows he’s not living up to his greatest potential. “What does it take to be powerful, purpose-driven and fulfilled?” It means becoming a King. It means doing the difficult work of breaking down the old masculine paradigms and becoming whole, healthy, and trustworthy. In order for men to move into this King energy, they need a guide. A way out of the old ways of being a man of oppression, repression, and aggression and instead, walking a path toward becoming a King; a man of strength, clarity, and fulfillment. This podcast is that guide and it starts here!

The Healing Power of Tough Conversations with Mike Liguori

Scarcity mindset versus abundance mindset

Our mindsets are formed through our childhood experiences and how our parents raised us. And sometimes we end up blaming our parents for some things not panning out the way we’d like.

It’s easier to blame others than accept responsibility for the circumstances that occurred. You don’t always need to have tough conversations with other people. Sometimes you need to have them with yourself. Shifting that perspective from blame to acceptance is how you begin. That expression leads to a unique form of empowerment and motivation.

In today’s episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I sit down with Mike Liguori to dive into the topic of parents, living as a modern man, and dealing with the past. We share some key concepts about being open and honest with our parents, seeking approval, and the power of forgiveness.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Whenever that was. (0:46)
  • The bar you’re always trying to surpass. (10:32)
  • Taking responsibility for your life. (23:17)
  • Acceptance & forgiveness of the past. (35:36)
  • Being intentional with BEING a man. (46:18)
  • Seeking his father’s approval. (56:33)

Push Your Limits

Stress and discomfort lead to growth

It might seem counterintuitive that stress leads to growth. However, when you train muscles in the gym by putting them through stress, the muscles adapt and grow. The same thing happens to your mind when you challenge yourself. Do things you don’t want to do and your mental propensity to give up will subside.

That’s why I decided to sign up for a 63.5-mile bike race (30 miles longer than I’ve ever ridden before). Committing to something that pushes you out of your comfort zone, knowing you don’t want to do it, and actually finishing does something to your mind. It gives more power to the extraordinary man. If you decide to give up, you’re training your mind to give in to the ordinary man.

In today’s episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I share a new challenge I’m taking on later this year and how I’m preparing for it. Commit yourself to doing something stressful and uncomfortable, and you will become mentally stronger.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Where the rubber meets the gravel road. (0:46)
  • Full output, no attachment. (3:44)
  • Start a physical challenge. (6:49)
  • Hope for the best! (9:49)
  • Commit yourself & make it happen. (11:25)

Creating Multiple Streams of Income

Aim for becoming income rich, not cash rich

Creating multiple streams of income isn’t an easy task. From the perspective of time, it probably isn’t possible to hold seven full-time jobs. That means you must create sources of income that allow you to spend time elsewhere. Working at scale or working for results rather than trading time for money is the general idea.

These ventures always take time. Long term thinking is vital to beginning your journey on creating multiple streams of income. I say this not to scare you. You should feel prepared, driven, and purposeful if you’re thinking about expanding your income streams.

In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I share some of the insights I’ve learned over the past 12 years from being a trainer, coach, and business owner. When you’re deciding on which venture to start, it’s essential to take a look at your priorities. I share which needs you should prioritize, the average amount of income streams a typical millionaire has, and general wisdom about approaching new projects.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Learning from the past. (0:46)
  • Wealth building takes time. (7:41)
  • Buying businesses. (14:22)
  • All the freedoms. (20:07)
  • Do you leave your day job? (25:28)

Dialing In Masculine Style with Tanner Guzy

How to dress better to feel more confident

Clothing is often a reflection of your internal state of mind. As men we’ve always cared about how we look. For instance, warriors wore a certain type of wardrobe. They wanted to appear fiercer and signal status. Clothing is another form of communication, similar to body language. And when you dress well, you feel unstoppable and congruent with your identity.

A lot of men say they don’t care about their appearance or clothing. Yet if you told them to throw on a dress, paint their nails, and wear heels, they’d likely deny it. Therefore, they do care about their appearance, yet they might not know where to start. It’s perfectly fine to admit that as many men feel similarly.

In today’s episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I sit down with Tanner Guzy to share a master class on style. He shares the core principles of identity building with style archetypes, how to utilize jewelry (while feeling confident wearing it), and the difference between dressing for yourself versus dressing for attention. This episode is a must-listen if you want to upgrade your aesthetic.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Outside reflection of the Inside. (0:46)
  • Lead with your emotions or not? (9:04)

Puppy Dogs, Bambi, and Blood

A traumatic (yet hysterical) story

It’s fascinating how humans are captivated by storytelling. Think about the last time a family member, good friend, or someone you respect told you a story. To what degree were you invested?

Often the best storytellers are the ones who invoke the most emotion in their listeners. Using sensory details, a sound structure, and the ability to tell the most important details are skills used by the greatest storytellers. They know exactly what parts to leave out while giving the perfect amount of detail.

Today’s episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast is not for the faint of heart… I decided to share a stomach-wrenching story from when I was around the age of 13. You’ll just have to listen to find out the details.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Throw Back to the Johnny King Show. (0:46)
  • Buffy the Vampire. (5:10)
  • Dirty jobs. (10:09)
  • Oh no, it continues! (14:10)
  • I’m going to hell. (18:02)

Being A Man of Integrity

The secret to overcoming mental resistance

Mental friction is something all humans face. Some of us like to think of it like the two voices in our head – one rational, and the other emotional and irrational. Other times, it’s better to think of this mental resistance as a challenge. It’s an accomplishment when you overcome that friction.

Yet overcoming that mental resistance is easier said than done. You might feel this mental resistance toward going to the gym or going to work. And once you take the first step, you realize the task was easier than you initially thought. Or maybe you think to yourself, “I’ll do it tomorrow.”

In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I share the best tips for overcoming mental resistance, why becoming a man of integrity is vital, and the reason you need to stay true to yourself. At the end of the episode, I throw down a challenge that pushes you to say “no” to the ordinary man and say “yes” to the extraordinary man.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Do you ever want to bail? (0:46)
  • What’s the big deal anyway? (3:48)
  • Gettin’ spicy! (7:29)
  • Broken agreements. (11:24)
  • Becoming a King of your Kingdoms. (14:12)

Becoming an Everyday Legend with Mike Campbell

The human experience requires you to feel uncomfortable

Personal growth, change, and expansion all begin with the internal. However, when you change your behavior (the external), you begin to change the internal. And that’s why so many men feel stuck in this cycle of safety. So push yourself to change, as the human experience requires it.

We’re programmed to seek comfort because that’s how we survive, reproduce, and evolve. That’s the very reason for dissatisfaction. On paper, we might have a roof over our heads and food on the table; that safety makes us question these feelings of struggle, dissatisfaction, and numbness. Are you feeling satisfied or just accepting what’s “good enough?”

In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I sit down with Mike Campbell to discuss the identity crisis of modern men. Mike shares an insightful idea – we create safety and comfort in the external world in order to make up for our insecurities. We discuss the steps you need to take to begin making progress, why you don’t need to be perfect yet strive for discomfort, and Mike details a perceptive analogy on how to behave as a man.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • The Ultimate Stone Fruit Eater. (0:46)
  • Where do you start if you want change? (9:14)
  • Strength and flexibility. (18:52)
  • Who am I & how do I get there? (30:20)
  • Lessons from a jig-saw puzzle. (41:41)
  • Narrow vs wide angle view. (51:38)

Choose Acceptance Over Surrender

How to retain your control and power

The concept of power has been prevalent throughout history. The more power, the more control you had. How does that relate to modern times?

When we think of surrendering our ideas for compromises, we relinquish that power. Ideally, we want to maintain that control and power. That’s why it’s vital to choose acceptance over surrender.

In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I discuss the best way to handle objections in relationships by accepting, not surrendering. How have you surrendered your power rather than accepting things for how they are?

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • I’ve had it wrong for years. (0:46)
  • There is no grief w/ acceptance. (3:27)
  • Happy wife, happy life? (6:13)
  • Align and dance with acceptance. (8:51)

The Game

Choose to be the extraordinary man

Living with intention is a critical component to the game of life. It’s the difference between the ordinary man and the extraordinary man. And every day we’re faced with small decisions that determine whether or not we’re extraordinary. You deserve to be the best version of yourself.

It’s in those moments where we often feel the most ordinary, powerless, and unmotivated. The challenge of living with intention every single day is something that’s a massive struggle – even for celebrities. So, how do we ensure that we’re living with the intention to become the extraordinary man?

In today’s episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I share a chapter from my book called “The Game.” Discussion and contemplation are what sets the extraordinary man apart from the ordinary man. That’s why I discuss the best way to deal with setbacks, when to celebrate your victories, and how to achieve fulfillment.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Becoming Kings: The Game. (0:46)
  • Winning the battle of tug o’war. (4:35)

Crypto 102 for Beginners Part 2 with Peter King

We all start somewhere

A concept that seems to always resurface every now and again is that we all start somewhere. For some of us, we avoid going to the gym because we’re afraid of judgment. There are guys way stronger and bigger than us which makes it intimidating. Yet those guys weren’t always like that.

Don’t let intimidation sway you from beginning something. In the realm of crypto, there are several buzzwords, weird names, and concepts that don’t make any sense. And it takes time to learn. It’s not feasible to learn everything in one sitting, so all you can do is begin. Again, we all start somewhere.

In today’s episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I sat down with fan-favorite, and my brother, Peter King to discuss cryptocurrency and NFTs further.

In this part two, Peter shares the best practices for learning more about crypto and NFTs, the true utility of crypto and decentralization, and everything you need to know about the metaverse. If you’re interested in learning crypto, take your first step with this podcast.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Diving in deeper. (0:46)
  • The public ledger. (11:14)
  • Parabolic rise. (25:11)
  • Taking the big leap. (41:41)
  • Digital wallets. (56:21)
  • Asymmetric returns. (1:09:56)
