This podcast is that guide and it starts here!
Avoid Fear Disguised As Practicality
The paradox of choice
If you’re unfamiliar with the paradox of choice, it simply means decisions are more challenging when there are more options available, leading to greater levels of dissatisfaction.
In life, we’re given a plethora of choices regarding what we want to do in our lives. That sometimes leaves us in a job we hate, feeling unhappy and stuck – fear disguised as practicality. We can either choose to accept this reality or change it.
I realized this a little before and during my divorce. I didn’t have to live an unfulfilling life if I didn’t want to. It’s the fear that was holding me back.
In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I delve into the captivating life of Jim Carrey, the risks he took (and why he chose that risk), how practicality is robbing you of a life well-lived, and the steps to conquering fear moving forward.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Wisdom of Jim Carrey. (0:46)
- Heal so that you can feel. (4:37)
- Practicality or dreams? (9:06)
- Do you enjoy life? (13:59)
- Healing the wounds. (17:22)

What IS Men’s Work?
How to free yourself from past traumas
Last weekend I traveled to a retreat led by my friend and popular men’s coach, Traver Boehm. Twenty-five new brothers have become a part of my life because of this retreat.
A key takeaway from this weekend was the power of vulnerability, support, and healing. When men with the same mission surround you, there aren’t words to describe it. That led to a conclusion: Men NEED to learn from other men on how to be men.
The prevalence of pain, shame, fear, and regret was astonishing. Unfortunately, so many of us bottle these feelings up, and often they lead to outbursts in other ways. Projection is one way of negatively expressing these emotions.
In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I share my experience at the Man Uncivilized retreat, the impression it left on me, and the best technique to heal yourself from past traumas.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- New brothers from different mothers. (0:46)
- Strangers to best friends. (4:55)
- Synergy of men doing the work. (9:49)
- Various types of trauma. (15:17)
- Need healing? Do this! (20:17)

Choose Mood Over Money
Gary Vee’s vision of success
Back in 2010, I came home from a Tony Robbins event with one goal in mind – I was quitting my corporate job. It was a dark period in my life, and in retrospect, what Gary Vee talked about was exactly what I needed to hear. It paved the way I think about the future.
In today’s episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I discuss the perspective Gary Vee recommends when thinking about success. Success is subjective, and one idea that remains in my mind is there’s always someone more attractive, wealthy, and successful than you. Accepting that truth is the first step in becoming the King of your Kingdom.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Getting in our own way. (0:51)
- Man in the arena. (6:49)
- Continually showing up. (13:43)
- Emotion-full vs emotion-less. (21:22)
- Never ending growth. (27:19)

What Are You Working Towards?
Precision is key to finding what you want
We often find ourselves searching for something we truly want. Whether it’s attaining success, happiness, or a nice house, are those the things we are truly seeking? I’d argue that it’s not the objects we yearn for, it’s the feeling we get from obtaining them.
That begs the question, what’s the reasoning behind desiring that feeling?
In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I dive into the similarities we have in common with NFL superstar Tom Brady, as well as the underlying emotions I crave and how you can discover yours. Sometimes our blind spots cover the obstacles that block us from achieving our goals. Finding these blind spots is crucial to discovering our true desires and ultimately obtaining what we want.

How to Become More Confident
How comfort leads to confidence
Being boastful, loud, and outwardly sure of yourself seems to be the widely accepted definition of “confidence”. In reality, confidence also manifests itself in unexpected moments. Ones we may not associate with the concept at all.
Being comfortable with ourselves is a key component to feeling confident. I’ve found the most effective way to break past your barriers of self-doubt is to face them head on. First and foremost though, comfort with yourself, and facing whatever fear you may conceive before attacking something intimidating, is paramount.
On this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I flip the concept of bold and brash behavior as the only way to be “confident” on its head. It’s time we move past the old definition and perception of the term and into a new, more healthy one that promotes comfort.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Unplugged & unscripted. (1:13)
- To prompt or not to prompt. (4:54)
- Putting on an act. (9:27)
- Go LIVE! (13:26)
- Some will, some won’t. (16:29)

Achieving Freedom Through AirBNB with Dr. Chau
From $350k in debt to retired in your 30’s
Dr. Chau Ong thought after 8 years of rigorous academic work that he had achieved freedom. In actuality, the opposite was true.
$350,000 in loans shackled him to a life of nonstop work with no financial or personal freedom.
A pharmacist by trade, he started to feel alienated from his true purpose of helping patients, the one that he had dedicated so much of his life to. The nature of his work led him to feeling like a mill for pills, and toward the empty feeling that he was not actually improving people’s lives.
Then, in the span of 12 months, he was able to rediscover his financial independence via AirBnB. Now an AirBnB coach, Dr. Chau is able to use his investment knowledge and inventive approach to real estate to help others find their purpose and freedom.
On this episode of The Becoming Kings Podcast, Dr. Chau and I discuss the ins-and-outs of real estate investing, what really drives us, and the interplay of strategy and mindset.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Making money through AirBnB. (0:53)

The Secret Ingredient to Exponential Growth
A blueprint is insufficient
No matter how hard you try to set yourself up for success, things don’t always go to plan. You can give anyone a concrete, no-doubt about it, layout for achievement, yet one thing will always get in the way.
Our fears.
The fact of the matter is, we’re emotional beings. Inevitably, our emotions will get in the way and prevent us from reaching our own potential. There’s no need to feel shame about it, in fact it’s something to be embraced. All we need is a shift in mindset.
On this episode of the podcast, I delve into the one ingredient you can use to jumpstart your own growth, having the right mindset, and being a man of service.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Mindset growth. (0:46)
- Is a blueprint all you need? (4:04)
- Fear, limiting beliefs, overwhelm… (7:25)

The Power of Vision
Innovation and exploration in the modern age
Space travel has always been a big interest of mine. What struck me during a recent watch of a space-centered documentary was this.
Technological innovation is not inevitable.
You have to push. You have to evolve. We have literally thousands of years of evidence to warn us against this very fact. The Egyptians and the pyramids, the Romans and the aqueducts and architecture. The modern day innovators have to rediscover, examine, and take heed from the past in order to push forward toward the future.
The most important part though may be to make sure we pass what we’ve learned down to future generations. The same holds true for us as men. As we continue to grow and evolve, we have to leave the world and its people in a better place than when we found it.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Return to Space. (0:46)
- Crazy to realize what’s possible. (3:48)
- The commercialization of space flight. (7:40)
- Innovation is not inevitable. (11:10)
- Healing is not inevitable. (13:24)

Crypto 101 for Beginners with Pete King
Mining for gold in the new age of finance
2008 was a year of ramifications. When the global market crashed and threw millions of people’s lives into disarray, there was a point of no return for long-held beliefs in institutions that had failed the general population.
Simply put, it was time to take financial well-being into our own hands.
Cryptocurrency has been one of the escape hatches that has risen to prominence the last few years. And now that it’s gone mainstream, you may feel like you’ll fall behind if you’re not fully informed. Knowing where to start in an entirely new marketplace can be daunting.
I sat down with my brother, Pete King, to go over the basics of the new financial and technological landscape. We discuss the origins of cryptocurrency, the basics of how it works, its place in a new society, and where it could go from here.
In this episode you’ll learn about…

Do Others Struggle to FEEL You?
Conversation doesn’t guarantee connection
Our interactions with others can often serve as a facade. Whatever might be bubbling under the surface in our psychological state can lead to us not interacting with our loved ones and ourselves truly and fully.
Having someone truly feel and understand you is a two-way street. Yes, others need to be good and willful listeners, however when you’re the one communicating, you need to be vulnerable and honest. Way easier said than done, however opening yourself up to true connection with others and expressing otherwise repressed emotions is a brave, and necessary decision.
On this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I check-in on how you can cut out the noise, pull down the facade, and gain perspective on whether or not others are truly connecting with your feelings.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- The Profit. (0:46)
- Poor leadership. (3:10)
- Who goes first? (6:12)
- Something to work with. (8:48)
