Becoming Kings
Becoming Kings Podcast is for any man pursuing greater abundance and fulfillment in life, especially when he knows he’s not living up to his greatest potential. “What does it take to be powerful, purpose-driven and fulfilled?” It means becoming a King. It means doing the difficult work of breaking down the old masculine paradigms and becoming whole, healthy, and trustworthy. In order for men to move into this King energy, they need a guide. A way out of the old ways of being a man of oppression, repression, and aggression and instead, walking a path toward becoming a King; a man of strength, clarity, and fulfillment. This podcast is that guide and it starts here!
A Guide to Igniting and Integrating Spiritual Awakenings with Sam Kabert
Elevating your existence
The last time I had Sam Kabert on the podcast, we discovered what it means to have a thirst for spirituality with blinders on. A former Silicon Valley success story, Sam felt as though his Soul/Life balance was completely out of synchronization with his being. Now a full time spiritual seeker on the back of the release of his first book, he is more determined than ever to help others ignite their own spiritual awakenings.
Sam has made it his mission to help others fine tune their own tumultuous natures into a more soulful, healthy lifestyle. He is constantly searching for lessons that can be gleaned from life’s everyday happenings, and harnessing them to fine-tune his own Soul/Life balance. Within today’s constantly changing and chaotic world, our ability to find fulfillment within our heart and spirituality is essential. Actually integrating these discoveries into our lives is the next step toward enlightenment.
What’s the lesson? How can we raise our awareness so that we are able to healthily respond to events that happen for us, instead of reacting to them? What are some exercises we can practice that will help bring us calm and understanding? These are just a few of the crucial questions that Sam and I discuss at length in his return to the Becoming Kings podcast.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Insights from Costa Rica. (1:30)
- Al dente. (10:43)
- Who is ACTUALLY driving the bus? (23:51)
- Digging into Sam’s new book! (36:11)

Do This When Life is Spinning Out of Control
Searching for an effective release to manage trauma
Recently I had an experience where my life literally flashed before my eyes. As if I was in The Matrix, time slowed down before some friends and I crashed into a snowbank on a highway.
We had spun across the highway and crashed, with all of us (and the truck) ultimately taking minimal damage. However events like these can have a lasting impact on us and force us to reevaluate our lives. They can compound other negative thoughts and feelings that are lingering in our heads and send us into a tailspin.
This episode of Becoming Kings is dedicated to discussing solutions on how we dig ourselves out of feeling like we’re spinning out of control. Come for the harrowing story of the crash, and stick around for how I moved past it, and how you can too.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- When you’re losing your mind… (0:54)
- Spinning out of control. (6:40)
- When you lose your way. (13:21)
- Energetic release. (19:17)
- Adopting a mindfulness practice. (25:10)

The Marlboro Man vs The Nice Guy
Finding the middle ground is harder than it seems
There has been a distinct paradigm shift in our society the last 100 years. As time has gone on, men have developed from primal, brutal outlooks and interpretations of their worldview. Their emotions took a backseat toward conquering whatever it was in front of them. Survival was paramount.
As time and tide has crashed against men and society as a whole, it has steadily chipped away at men’s expectations of their own nature. How we perceive ourselves has been subject to changing expectations in society, social movements that have brought progress and confusion, and the evolution of technology and its role in our lives.
Men are stuck between trying to live up to the Marlboro Man figure of old, and the new Nice Guy, who is subjected to other’s whims and desires, except their own. On this episode of Becoming Kings, I discuss some of the resources at our disposal that can help us in navigating this paradigm shift.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Man Uncivilized. (0:52)
- F your feelings. (3:18)
- The SNAG paradigm. (7:19)
- Feeling the pressure to perform. (10:58)
- Commit yourself to doing the work. (14:19)

Maximizing Midlife with Greg Scheinman
The top of the mountain is only half the journey
Greg Scheinman wanted for nothing as he grew up in New York City. Everything was on the table for him, as long as his best friend and mentor, his father, was there for him. Then everything changed.
Stricken by cancer, his father tragically passed away at the age of 47. Left to his own devices, Greg was left feeling angry, struggling with substance abuse, and recklessly thrashing about in life, gasping for air.
Looking in the mirror, with his hair thinning, weight gaining, and drinking everyday, he thought of his father. Would he be proud of the man Greg had become?
That was when he invested in himself.
On top of being a successful entrepreneur, loving husband of two decades, and father to two sons, Greg coaches men in midlife to find their own definition of success, reorient their lives around fulfillment, and discover that everything after midlife is not a downward slope.
Join Greg and I for this insightful, honest, and personal conversation. Let’s invest in ourselves and turn the midlife “crisis” into a turning point toward growth and prosperity.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- You want God to laugh, make a plan. (0:46)
- Adding value & networking. (11:43)
- Getting that wake-up call. (22:38)

Lean Into Resistance
Constant struggle is essential
Resistance shows up for all of us. If we all had it our way, we’d be married, have a couple kids, and live on the beach somewhere and run a little surf shop. However, the daily struggle of our own, and others, doubts and fears can force us to quit.
The beautiful thing? We have other men to lean on and grow. The journey toward becoming a King is long and filled with turmoil, so it is imperative that we lean into resistance. Passivity will only stagnate growth and wash you away in the current, forcing you to quit. Make resistance a healthy habit and grow into the man you’re meant to be.
This is a quick podcast to commend those who have fought against the conventional and resisted giving in despite criticism, self-doubt, and fear.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Podcasting on location. (0:47)
- The Uncommon Man book club. (2:43)
- Where does resistance pop up? (5:08)
- Answering the call to adventure. (7:11)
- Resistance training makes us stronger. (8:55)

STOP Waiting!
Take action today
Men who have lived significant lives are those who have refused to wait around for life to happen to them. We have to be the catalyst for change in our own lives.
It’s never going to be over, so stop waiting.
We wait because we’re scared. As David Deida states “every moment waited is a moment wasted, and each wasted moment degrades your clarity of purpose.” Find out today if you have what it takes to give your gifts fully. Make a firm commitment to spend an hour today doing what you love and what you feel like you’ve spent your whole life waiting to do.
“Our lives are defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss.” F Scott Fitzgerald’s words ring true now as they did then. Letting life pass us by without grabbing hold of what you love is not an option.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Most men make this error. (0:46)
- Don’t believe in this myth. (3:29)
- Practice love. (5:57)
- Stop looking to mold them. (9:01)
- Every moment waited, is a moment wasted. (11:21)

Weak Men Create Hard Times
Life is cyclical.
“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times.”
Our world is going through hard times, and this is not the first time we’ve gone through this. Though in difficult times, we also live in a time with great abundance.
During WWII there were 18 and 20 years olds storming the beaches of Normandy, terrified perhaps yet without hesitation to fight for the free world. Today, we have men living in their parents’ houses until they are 25 or older. Ask yourself what is the difference?
The men I’ve spoken to recently are going through hard times. These men have spent time bending and twisting their language to fit the “nice guy” narrative in an effort to make everyone happy. Those same men are committed to getting stronger and winning the war that rages inside us.
In this episode of Becoming Kings, we discuss the war inside our minds, how becoming a king isn’t without struggle, and what it takes to heal.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Hard times create strong men. (1:05)
- The wounded boys of the world. (3:41)
- A “nice guy” culture. (6:34)
- The enemy and war within. (9:29)
- It’s time to be alert! (12:26)

Authentic Leadership
Acceptance is the path authority
The prototypical strong leaders in society are conspicuously faultless and without weakness. They project constant strength and competency, regardless of any challenges that come their way.
It’s an inauthentic representation and needs to be dispelled.
What is the use of looking at someone who represents themselves as faultless and trying to embody that state of being? It is literally unattainable, and ultimately harmful to our goal of becoming Kings. Instead, we need to embrace and be transparent about our faults, vulnerabilities, and challenges we face in everyday life. That is how leadership should be cultivated, via relatability, empathy, and acceptance.
On this episode of Becoming Kings, we discuss what brings you life vs takes your life, accepting and owning your individuality, and becoming truly authentic.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Leadership through vulnerability. (1:25)
- Understanding Men. (5:17)
- What brings you life vs takes your life? (8:46)
- Men in the tunnel. (11:44)
- Authenticity resonates. (13:50)

Why We Must Question
To Lead or To Follow
How often do you harness the opportunity to question prevailing opinions? We have a tendency to go with the flow and agree with the crowd, without hearing contradictory opinions.
I guess you could say I have an issue with authority.
Blindly following whatever the masses do or think without taking alternative opinions into consideration can be a slippery slope. Thinking for yourself and coming up with your own viewpoint of the world is paramount to living a life of fulfillment. Being analytical and thinking about different aspects of the world from varying perspectives is part and parcel of your development into a human being.
The time for thinkers has come. Question the world around you, the decisions you make whether they’re big or small. “Why is my health so poor?” “Why do I stay in this job I hate?” “Why do I go to bed so early?” These are all essential questions to ask on the way to becoming Kings.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Patterns of people. (0:46)
- Cut from the same cloth. (5:22)
- Ask the questions, don’t blindly follow. (10:40)
- Why do you do what you do? (15:59)
- What do you actually want? (20:06

Where Does Your Energy Come From?
How to build habitual energy
How you utilize your energy is not as straightforward an answer as you might think. Food and sleep are typically the go-to factors people mention most when discussing energy. The one I identify with most though is one you might not expect.
Habits.
Energy is not something that comes from the outside-in. On the contrary, it actually comes from the inside-out. Routines that have been ingrained into your psyche for years have a far more powerful effect on your energy than your food and sleep patterns. Those are essential to your health, so you should pay attention to them, however your energy is equivalent to the habits you build over time.
On this quick hitter episode of Becoming Kings, think about creating and sustaining energy as a true habit versus perceiving it as a byproduct of what you eat and how you rest.
In this episode you’ll learn about…
- Where does energy come from? (0:47)
- Beliefs vs habits. (3:14)
- Emotion is energy in motion. (5:41)
- What is your routine to create energy? (7:43)
