Becoming Kings

Becoming Kings Podcast is for any man pursuing greater abundance and fulfillment in life, especially when he knows he’s not living up to his greatest potential. “What does it take to be powerful, purpose-driven and fulfilled?” It means becoming a King. It means doing the difficult work of breaking down the old masculine paradigms and becoming whole, healthy, and trustworthy. In order for men to move into this King energy, they need a guide. A way out of the old ways of being a man of oppression, repression, and aggression and instead, walking a path toward becoming a King; a man of strength, clarity, and fulfillment. This podcast is that guide and it starts here!

Your Vision is Your Superpower

Match up your drive and desire.

I’ve met a lot of “driven” people who seem miserable. How do I know?

I was one of those people.

From the time we’re kids we’re conditioned to remember that we’ll eventually outgrow things: interests, music, toys, etc. And yet, it seems we got it into our heads that we shouldn’t also outgrow our work… Which is how you end up with some many “driven” and “successful” people who don’t seem happy.

When I say your vision is your superpower, I mean that casting a vision is what helps us to adapt, grow, and change in the ways we need to, when we need to. Not everything should be the same for all time.

Not everyone is destined to be a digital nomad for years on end—the beaches certainly are lovely—because at some point it’ll be time for a change. And it’s those moments when putting a lid on vision can be the most detrimental thing for us.

On this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, we’re going to take a look at vision and how you can align your life around one, achieve it, and set a new one when the time is right.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Wise words. (0:46)
  • What do YOU want for your life? (3:57)
  • Your “why” for your vision. (7:47)
  • The power of personality profile assessments. (11:59)
  • Once you have a vision, it’s time to manifest it. (16:28)
  • You’ll want a vision for every area of your life! (20:21)

Do You Have Premonitions?

Catching up with thoughts of the future.

Some people experience a phenomenon where they vividly see an event in their near or distant future.

Whether or not this is just the mind exploring likely scenarios or something more supernatural, we’ll likely never know for sure.

However, this has happened to me recently twice now. The first time was months ago when I met Gerard Butler at a retreat (shortly after he popped into my mind out of the blue). And the second time, well I’m going to share that story here on the podcast on this episode.

Okay, so how can this story about having premonitions about celebrities impact you this week?

A lot of the guys I speak to are skeptical about the power of manifestation (and their relationship to premonitions). They have good reason to be… and at times I’m skeptical too. Yet this story really defies all logic, because I really wanted to meet this person and I did, in a fairly unexpected way.

If nothing else, it’s a strong reminder that the world is truly open to us. And my hope is that after listening to this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, you’ll believe that you too could take advantage of this reality.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Strange things are happening. (0:54)
  • Amy Purdy. (3:16)
  • Talk about a fighter! (6:14)
  • A higher authority? (9:44)
  • Downloading from source. (12:11)

Heed the Greater Calling in Life with Dan Gomer

Fighting the stories we tell ourselves.

Listener… There’s something you need to know.

YOU have the potential to ANYTHING you set your mind to. And if you doubt me, I understand why. The stories you tell yourself about your past, present, and future are powerful (and not just in the good way). You’ve probably felt it deep down too.

The stories we all tell ourselves are often lies until we’ve done the work to reframe how we see our potential. Because each of us has boundless potential, as long as we believe it, see it, and live it.

Our nature is to express beyond our limiting beliefs, so how do we actually do that?

I’ve welcomed Dan Gomer to the Becoming Kings Podcast, because he’s got a special insight into discovering who we are. Too often we feel fear and apprehension toward moving forward with our lives. Yes, the unknown is scary, however Dan has developed a system to help others overcome that and leave behind the limiting beliefs they hold about themselves.

If you’re ready to tap your potential, and drive ahead in life, you won’t want to miss this episode.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Dan “the man” Gomer. (0:51)
  • “Success” being a very personal term. (7:38)
  • Letting go of certainty for progress. (16:07)
  • Fear is a powerful drug. (24:36)
  • Intrinsic value in helping people. (33:58)
  • Think Like a Monk & morning rituals. (42:57)
  • Dan’s upcoming classes. (48:54)

Grieving and Experiencing Loss

Overcoming the instinct to lock it all away.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I’d prefer to shove my feelings way down, rather than feel them. And when you look at the course of male history… It’s a pretty common symptom we experience.

Of course, how we deal with our feelings and the ways we do address the pain, grieving, and loss are really important.

If we’re going by a hierarchy of methods, I would seem like the healthiest would be to sit with it, feel, and process more immediately, while the least healthy would be treating it with avoidant behaviors or self-destructive habits.

That said, it’s really important not to downplay the damage holding it down can do. In that way, our feelings can almost become like Hulk from Marvel movies: punching everything to dust. So what is there to be done about grief and loss; what’s the best way to deal with them?

If you’re like me, you might need more than a little coaxing to begin processing. In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I’m going to share some methods my coach gave me to use recently.

What you can learn here could be instrumental to helping you find much needed healing.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Coming from the heart. (1:18)
  • Constant and Never Ending Improvement. (4:51)
  • Not wanting to go there. (8:36)
  • So how do you tap into grief? (13:27)
  • The power of breathwork. (17:08)
  • Have the courage to try something new. (20:24)

Building Your Inner Kingdom

Physical mastery doesn’t mean you’re invincible…

Yet it will help you powerfully show up. Here’s the thing:

A lot of life’s experiences will be cut off from you when you slack on physical fitness. Now, I’m not saying you need to be the next world class gymnast, bodybuilder, or runner. What I AM saying is that leaning into your bodily fitness now will help you be prepared to enjoy far more.

Take for instance a trip I took with some guys recently. Deep into the Colorado mountains, they planned to bike as far as they could. And me? I’ve been lifting really often, however my distance endurance was not so kept up.

Basically, these guys were on fire biking absurd distances and I had to follow behind in a car because there was no way that was happening. Thankfully, it instilled some great lessons about fitness, preparedness, and committing to pushing the body to its full potential.

This time on the Becoming Kings Podcast, we’re taking a look at physical fitness, personal mastery, and how it can help unleash your Inner Kingdom.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • The weight of proper adulting. (0:58)
  • Colorado backcountry gravel cycling. (3:14)
  • Sea level vs at altitude. (5:49)
  • Considering your environment. (8:50)
  • Why is your Inner Kingdom so important? (11:44)

Tapping into The Final Percent with Greg Kimble

You’re one conversation away from changing your life.

When we’re focused on preserving, protecting, and persevering in our current states, we often leave ourselves closed to the possibilities of who we could be

I recently sat down with the energetic and inspiring Greg Kimble to discuss what it takes to make that final push into change and achievement. For him, it starts with a single conversation and being willing to put yourself out there.

The how, why, and when of those things often shift from person to person, however if you can help yourself be more open and willing to exchange words with strangers, you’re halfway there!

Think about it in the business context:

You might have the know-how, expertise, and drive to bring something amazing to fruition, yet you’re missing the money component. Being open to conversation and putting yourself out there may land you the lap of a generous investor who can make it all happen.

That’s why on this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, we’re going all-in on learning how to get over that finish line, and the strategies Greg uses in conversations to move his life forward. With his tools and mindset acquired I believe you can do incredible things!

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • He loves the color purple. (0:44)
  • The Final Percent Conference. (4:04)
  • The best time to take action is…? (9:39)
  • Lessons from the total eclipse. (13:52)
  • Hitting your limit to expand your limits. (19:42)
  • No such thing as a “self-made man”. (25:03)

Your Life Depends On Mastering THIS!

Let’s work on that emotional fitness.

Resilience is what allows us to climb the mountain and achieve our often lofty goals.

Problem is… It can be difficult to cultivate, maintain, and implement into life.

Whenever I work with guys, I call resilience “emotional fitness” because it’s a great barometer of how much each can handle before things get overwhelming. I get asked a lot why cultivating resilience and persevering is worth it in the end. The answer is actually pretty easy:

“The quality of your life is proportional to how much uncertainty you can handle.” Sit with this for a moment, because it’s important to understand.

The further we get on our journey to achievement, the more uncertain and unmapped it becomes.

That’s why on this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, I’m going to teach you how to become more resilient and master your emotional fitness.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Fulfillment and Uncertainty. (0:53)
  • Need a kick in the pants? (3:33)
  • The fear was crippling. (5:56)
  • Learning your emotional threshold. (8:47)
  • Spontaneity is a great test of your courage. (11:14)

Life Management in Seven Minutes or Less

It’s all about the process.

Brother, I get asked pretty often how I do it all. The podcast, coaching, Meeting of Men, having a thriving relationship…

Well, it comes down to having a process! Too often the guys I meet are all-out winging their day-to-day, no routines, no structure, just going with the flow. And yeah, sometimes this works for people, however if you’re anything like me “flow” is code for a serious amount of unneeded stress.

Over the years I’ve run my own businesses, turned my back on a Master’s degree, and basically had to follow my own path. I certainly had to deal with my fair share of uncertainty, minor disaster, and not knowing how to move forward.

The secret to conquering it was this process for myself that I’ve developed over the last ten or so years. Thing is, you can learn it in just seven minutes by listening to this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast

Get your notebook ready because this info is going to set you up to win!

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • The Process for Getting Stuff Done. (0:53)
  • Data dump. (2:06)
  • “Win the Day” training. (3:53)
  • Weekly plan & Trello. (5:31)

Activity vs Impact with Brian Pickowicz

Forceful action for a better future.

Who would have thought that a bodybuilder could ever feel small

After leaving the bodybuilding scene, Brian had to face an uncomfortable reality: his life hadn’t exactly gone how he’d envisioned. The goal had been to be famous, to roll back into his hometown someone everyone would admire.

Yet he found out the hard way that life likes to laugh in the face of our plans.

And after a few years of genuinely taking steps forward he continued to be thwarted at every turn. It took outrunning his old mindset, literally, to discover what he needed to do to set his life on track, achieve a set of new goals, and attain that elusive success he craved.

Join me for the latest episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast as I sit down with the wise and insightful Brian Pickowicz. We discuss the nature of success, mastery over the body, and how to persevere through hardship, disappointment, and outright defeat.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • Puppy Fatherhood. (1:12)
  • Creating a new mission. (8:37)

Feeling Stuck? Do This One Thing!

Measuring your way to success.

Overwhelm is often the enemy of progress.

How often do we feel a huge drive to overcome an obstacle or problem, and resolve to handle it all at once? It’s a huge problem because once you start going after the entire problem you find out just how stubborn and well-prepared it is for a full-frontal assault.

Next thing you know, you’re days into a war you’re not sure you can win, counting down to destruction, demotivation, and burnout. Sucks, doesn’t it?

Well… It’s a good thing I’ve got just what you need to get back out there and start winning. And it revolves around small, measured, and strategic advances on the problem. Instead of going all-in, we’re going to experiment with “guerilla warfare” to take down our problems and start winning.

It’s a different approach, sure, however it’s proven to work! In this episode of the Becoming Kings Podcast, we’re unpacking the best way to approach growth and personal development… Listen now to learn it.

In this episode you’ll learn about…

  • The process for getting unstuck. (0:49)
  • Begin tracking an area of your life. (2:41)
  • Get clear on how you can measure what you want to change. (4:38)
  • Build in some accountability and leverage. (6:56)
  • Ask yourself, how can you make things more simple? (8:56)
